Mosslax is a brand new Pokémon exclusive to Pokémon Pokopia a moss-covered Snorlax that’s been sleeping so long that flowers started growing on it. Once you wake him up in Bleak Beach, he unlocks the Eat specialty, one of the most powerful daily buffs in the game.
Every day when I load into Pokopia, the first thing I do is feed Mosslax. The problem? I never know what to give him, and I can never remember what bonus a specific food in my inventory will actually give me. So I made this guide as a quick daily reference just look up your food, see the buff, and get on with your day. Whether you’re early game or deep into late-game grinding, this should save you the guesswork. Have fun with Mosslax food guide
How Mosslax’s Eat Specialty Works
Once you’ve woken Mosslax up by completing the Brighten Things Up quest (check out our full guide on How To Wake Up Mosslax), you’ll need to wait about one in-game day. After that, Mosslax will get hungry and you can set up his Gourmet’s Offering habitat – just place a plate in front of him and put food on it.
From that point on, you can feed Mosslax once per day. The buff you get depends on the flavor of the food you give him, and it lasts until 5:00 AM the next in-game day. You can’t change it once you’ve fed him, so choose carefully.
One important thing – cooked food gives a stronger version of the buff than raw ingredients. So if you can cook something before offering it, always do that. But if you’re in a rush, raw berries and vegetables still work, just with a weaker effect.
All Mosslax Buffs by Flavor
Here’s what each flavor does when you feed it to Mosslax:
| Flavor | Mosslax Buff |
|---|---|
| Generic (No Flavor) | Increased rate of growing closer to Pokémon (friendship) |
| Spicy | Increased chance of Pokémon appearing in habitats |
| Sweet | Increased chance of finding Ancient Artefacts |
| Dry | Increased chance of seeing Lugia and Ho-Oh (rare feathers) |
| Bitter | Increased chance of finding rare items |
| Sour | Increased chance of the shop having “Good” items |
My recommendation: Spicy and Sweet are probably the most useful for most players. Spicy makes it way easier to fill out your Pokédex since more Pokémon show up in habitats. Sweet helps you find Ancient Artefacts which you’ll need for late-game progression. If you’re hunting for Rainbow Feathers and Silver Feathers to trade with Gimmighoul, go Dry.

Quick Tips
- Feed Mosslax cooked food whenever possible for stronger buffs.
- The buff lasts until 5:00 AM the next in-game day — plan around it.
- You can only feed Mosslax once per day. Pick your buff based on what you’re focusing on that day.
- If you need to switch buffs fast, you can time travel by changing the date on your Switch 2, but that’s at your own risk.
- Best daily combo: Feed Mosslax a Spicy dish, then spend the day building habitats and recruiting new Pokémon. Pair it with Dream Island visits for maximum efficiency.
